Newly elected Savannah Mayor Edna Jackson will be inaugurated this week.
The 67-year-old Jackson, who defeated rival councilman Jeff Felser in a runoff on Dec. 6, will be inaugurated on Tuesday along with the city's aldermen.
She succeeds Otis Johnson, who could not seek another term because of term limits.
Jackson, a former college administrator, will be inaugurated at 7 p.m. at the Savannah Civic Center. A reception and ball will follow.
