Prostate cancer race to impact traffic - Tampa Bay Newspapers

CLEARWATER ? The third annual Morton Plant Mease Prostate Cancer Awareness Race is set for Saturday, Sept. 8, 7:30 a.m., around Morton Plant Hospital and will affect local traffic.

There will be about 1,000 runners, volunteers and spectators. This year?s event includes a 5K, 10K, the Miracle Mile and the Kids? Dash. Law enforcement officers from Clearwater and Belleair will direct traffic.

The following streets will be impacted from about 7 to 10 a.m.:

? Memorial Causeway Bridge between Bay Avenue and Island Way
? Druid Road West and South
? Oak Avenue
? Rogers Street
? Orange Avenue
? Willadel Drive
? Coe Road
? Flamingo Drive
? Bay Avenue
? Corbett Street

Runners should be in the bike lane, not the street. Participants can register online at www.mpmfoundation.org. Costs are:

? 10K and 5K ? $25 until Friday, Aug. 31 or $30 after Sept. 1
? Miracle Mile ? $15 through Friday, Aug. 31 or $30 after Sept. 1
? Kids? Dash ? $10 through Friday, Sept. 7.
Late registrations are available on the day of the race for an additional $5 fee.

This family-friendly event is presented by Urology Specialists of West Florida and benefits Morton Plant Mease community screenings and education service and assists prostate cancer patients who may not have the resources for treatment.
